Critical Music founder Kasra returns with ‘Mood’, a dark, rolling strain of underground drum & bass built for warehouse systems and driven by a high-energy vocal performance by JoSoSick. Released on 3rd July 2026, the single brings together Kasra’s precision-engineered production with JoSoSick’s commanding lyricism, resulting in a track that balances tension, momentum and raw physical impact.
The collaboration draws on JoSoSick’s distinctive approach to vocal performance. Emerging from the heart of Camberwell’s grime lineage, his style is shaped by lived experience, clarity of expression and a calm but authoritative presence that cuts cleanly through the track’s dense rhythmic framework.
“I wrote the music with Jo in mind, we had worked together previously and I’m really into his serious yet somewhat playful mix of UK delivery.” says Kasra. “We then got together in the studio and he created these awesome bars and I finished the track around them. “
Lyrically, ‘Mood’ explores frustration and emotional pressure while maintaining an underlying sense of energy and release. The vocal theme is reflected in the production’s brooding atmosphere, with both elements working together to create a sense of movement rather than stasis.
“The theme centres around the idea of being in a bad mood but Jo’s style gives it an uplifting energy that compliments the music ” says Kasra.
The release arrives as another chapter in a career that has seen Kasra evolve from influential label architect to respected artist in his own right.
